From: Steve Shaffer
Re: Legends of Old

How often do you find yourself asking the following question?

"Why did early Spanish explorers go to the hardship of venturing to the Great Basin over treacherous untamed territory, returning time and time again?"

Chances are just about every time you go looking at early spanish maps? Once a year? Twice a month in the spring? or More? It gets old very fast reading how trappers and mountain men of the west came for fur.  Get a free ebook. to find-out why they stayed and others followed to the great basin.

Now, I don't have to tell you, if you knew what we did you would find hidden or buried cache or treasure. You must know how to plan riveting treasure adventures. Then one new idea might lead you to a lost clue or even hidden historical evidence for a find. Adventures that'll be based on legends, lore, maps, signs and symbols.

Just consider for a moment … really unearthing something hidden from history not the usual trip every other person before you has gone on. You don't need to take a trip yet, just time to read my adventures, thrills, legends and you'll find some hidden secrets in the books. Now's your chance — to read how I did it. Then you might make it happen-with some luck?

I'll let you in on a little secret. If you can't plan a new, fresh area thats covered with legends, history and signs, like I did, you will squelch the possibility. You see, most people are not attracted to hard to find places, an out of the way spot, and a place with old I mean really old mining history (ancient).

Uncovering a new idea from my books will make things easier for you. Next time in the same location, after reading my books, different things could open up — and you'll make it before one of the wolves out there snatch your treasure right out of your hands. And if you don't plan a "safe" excursion, then you can bet it will be your last one.

In my books you could read about men like Nachi (actual journal excerpts) to the historic hero Escalante gracing today's history books with spanish exploring north — to the great basin, land of the ancient ones. Now, old stories of Spaniards and Priests followed documented old trails and older legends while modern men like Mel Fisher's findings in the Atosha were their King't take. Proof of their glory.

For better or for worse, history controls how you view a geographical region by what you read about in current literature and all forms of movies hypnotize you that early explorers and spaniards were not in the great basin before 1776. They sit in meetings comparing how treasures or historical facts don't measure up to that of their associates. Or something was not documented.

And if you can't write a complete historical remembering full of electrifying evidence, then you won't measure up. So what's a sharp guy to do?

Sure, you could try to look for it. But you already know that you then run the risk of missing a hint or clue from all the other mainstream info so you won't be left at the curbside read my books for archeological evidence of treasures..

Or you can take charge and visit the great basin where it all happened - get your hands on maps, legends and proven experiences with the Author. Find-out new and exciting treasure ideas right from the source-with an unforgettable adventure in the Rocky Mountains. You could walk right where Escalante searched and Utes gathered before while learning the legends of old. We'll have you entranced over historical facts, figures and maps for hours — if that's what you want. Call about our unique walking historic adventures (801) 376-1425 or email today. I'd hope to see you come out.

Sincerely,

buried-treasure

Darren Chinn Steve Shaffer's book, "Of Men and Gold" has helped me considerably in my search for the Pure Conception Mine here in Arizona. I can identify (on the ground) all of the signs/symbols on the original Spanish map. I have found the signs that tell us how many leagues it is to the Virgin of Guadalupe Mine. Thanks to Steve's book, he saved me months and months of hard work.

Reference Two
Steve Fellows I appreciate your insight on the signs. You definately know your stuff. It coincided with my thoughts very closely. It helped me out and I am glad you are willing to share insight with a young novice like myself. I really enjoy your websight. The photos and info just pump me up to go out and find new things. My brother and I attended a presentation you did on your mine up hoyt, quite some time ago, when we were just 18 and 14.1 really enjoyed that. If you ever do any other presentations on your expeditions and finds be sure to e-mail me and let me know. I have more signs and such that I may need a hand with in the future so it is nice to know you are there to help. You definately are an expert when it comes to the treasures of the ancient's. Talk to you later.

Mathan Allred Hi Stephen, First, I wanted to say that I'm a BIG fan of you and your research, books, website, and your amazingly fruitful quest for truth. Most recently I've been reading your book, "Treasures of the Ancients." I have also read every one of Kerry Boren's books, which is how I became acquainted with you.

Just over the past couple years, what started out as a quest for buried treasure in Utah, has blossomed into the most intriguing and inspired quests for knowledge and truth that I have ever experienced. Learning about the history of Utah, in relation to the Uintah mountains, ancient writings/records, the Ute Indians etc., is worth more than the treasure I previously desired. For these reasons, and for further knowledge, I wish to join the We Mooch society. I am a photographer and spend a lot of time in the mountains, and see a l ot of things. As a member, I feel I can contribute to, as well as learn from your amazing group of truth-seekers.

Background of Steve Shaffer

Let us give you a little background of Steve Shaffer. Since early 1964 Steve started searching the Great Basin region for clues of the past. He learned the in the west lay hidden legends and untold finds beneath public sentiment, closed educated associations and societies. He found that many of the maps and history books were full of inconsistencies yet supported by those with degrees or rank. The only way he could give the truth to others was by actually walking with the past and then writing about it. He has written three books and is currently releasing his fourth book.

During this time, he always tried to stretch the imagination and do something interesting, creative, unique and different. He would ask everyone he new for ideas, he would constantly scour books, magazines, journals, diaries and the like, for new and interesting information. Then go out and prove it. He knew about the Bingham open pit mine and other huge mines in the great basin-he even owned two mines at one time.

As a result of all those years of actively researching, he ended up with quite a collection of articles, notes, experiences found in his books.

Knowing this, he is contacted almost daily about their finds, searches and excursions. He has put together several adventures that got him started with several interesting finds.

It was with these excursions and facts under his personal belt that he decided it was time to put all of this information into books so that everyone could have access to the best history teaching record-the field.
